Well, yes, they work. But they were clearly designed for guys not girls because getting them on the tires is almost impossible. The bands are very tight and very difficult to stretch out far enough to get over the tire and I'm pretty strong for a girl! So ladies, my advice if you buy these, prepare to arm yourselves also with a pair of sturdy work gloves, a mat to put down on the ground to save your knees/toes of your shoes/boots, some brute strength and at least 20 minutes. I bought these for my mini-clubman solely so that I could get up the 30 degree icy driveway of the new house in a Maine winter and basically, that's all I'll be able to use them for. No matter how much I tried, I just couldn't get the band completely over the tire. So about 1/4 of the band was left sitting on the tread, which is what the instructions tell you not to do. Consequently I won't be driving anywhere far with them as either they'll come off or cause other damage to the car from flapping around. I'd hoped that these were going to be an easy, fast solution, especially since the wheel clearance on the mini is too small for regular chains. Honestly though, they're so hard to put on, they'll be a last resort only.
I read the other reviews which very negative, I decided to gamble coz I hate metal chains. I bought a pair for my 2012 Forester Touring. I spend 3-4 minutes each tire coz I wanted it perfectly aligned - thats all! took some photos and uploaded to my face book. I live in florida but I want to have it coz we go skiing in the mountains of North Carolina in the winter. Driving on powder snow is fine - when it become icy is the real kicker and thats the time you need chains or studded tires, a 4WD can help you a little bit vs two wheel drive vehicles and adding these webb chains gives you more tractions. I give it four stars for now, five if they replace those little metallic clips with non-metallic materials. Overall I'm satisfied and I will get another pair later on before we travel so I'll have total of four for my 4WD. Good luck.
