I live in Nothern Ca around 3200 ft. These Spikes-Spikes-Spider 17.464 C4 Compact Series Winter Traction Aid Series Winter Traction Aid - Set of 2Spider's are real good in mild snow conditions and provide great trackion, especially going up a 50yrd driveway. I would recommend these to any one who can enjoy a set of these on the front end with front wheel drive. It takes only 5 minutes to take them out of the trunk and snap then in place. They really are easy and it means no more chanes or studded tires. This is a great investment if you live in a snow area as I do.
I have a FWD Volvo V50. I have been putting off ski trips for the past few years based on a lack of good snow chains that are easy to put on until I discovered Spikes Spider. They aren't cheap by any mean but they worth every dollar you pay. Swiss made and you can see the quality in every part from the hub to the nuts and bolts. Ordering from Amazon is slightly different than ordering directly from Spikes-Spider. From the former, you get mounting hardware for your specific vehicle. From the latter, you get a little more. You still get the spider arms for your specific tire size but the hub kits give you generic mounting hardwares for all vehicles. This gives you more flexibility down the road and better resell value. The only drawback that I could think of? once you put all the arms to the hub, they take up a lot of space. Much more than snow chains. That is OK if there is a lot of room in the trunk. Alternatively, you may be able to put them on top of the spare tire under the boot floor. That is a deal killer to me since it takes up almost of the trunk space in my Volvo wagon.
