- Michelin MaxTouch Construction optimizes the stresses experienced when the tire footprint comes in contact with the road to promote predictable handling, even wear and long treadlife. Its internal structure combines twin steel belts with a polyester cord body.
- Featuring a silica-based all-season tread compound molded into a mildly asymmetric tread design, Defender tires provide traction throughout a wide range of ambient temperatures and driving conditions. The interlocking action of Michelin IntelliSipe Technology promotes exceptional tread block rigidity that reduces rolling resistance and wear rate so drivers can save fuel without sacrificing longevity. IntelliSipe Technology also allows Michelin to increase the number of sipes in the Defender's tread design to provide additional biting edges that enhance all-season traction in rain and light snow. Four circumferential and hundreds of lateral grooves help evacuate water from under the tire's footprint to enhance hydroplaning resistance and wet traction.

We had a new set of these Michelin Defenders installed on our Toyota Yaris hatchback. The tires we replaced were the factory Bridgestone tires - they got 44,000 miles until the tread was worn to need replacement. We didn't order thru Amazon, but had a local shop order them and put them on and also do an alignment for us. The car drives smoother now and seems to handle pavement cracks and holes better (at least part of which is due to the alignment correction, I'm sure). At any rate, the tires seem better than the original ones, and I have had previous sets of Michelins go 90k+ on other cars before, so it was an easy choice for our Yaris and we are happy with the Defenders.
