I ended up buying these tires from another retailer, but if you want serious tires for your driving, you can't go wrong with the Super Sports.
I live in Hawaii, so I have no need for a dedicated winter tires. If you've been paying attention, you realize that summer tires outperform all-season tires in wet and dry conditions, and by quite a bit. I had an older (1999) CLK convertible shod with Big O tires by the previous owner. The tires easily broke free under acceleration. The schoolboy side of me liked the idea of spinning tires, but the "I really don't want to crash for no reason" side of me LOVES the reality of these tires. The car is now absolutely buttoned down. It is hard to describe what a difference high end tires make. The car doesn't suddenly break free. It takes a lot of effort to push out the back end now, and the limits are slow to arrive and easily managed. The performance is thus dramatically increased and the safety factor is infinitely better.
I cannot speak highly enough about what a difference the tires have made. Quiet, sticky, predictable. Long-lasting as well. They aren't cheap, so knowing that they will easily outlast $150 tires make them less expensive over time. If you know how to drive, they are a must. If you don't, they add safety and confidence. Time to grow up and buy real tires. You deserve it.
