I own a 2010 BMW S1000 RR. I purchased this product because I already spend too much money on track days and on my bike =), so I was looking for a good heavy duty BUT affordable wheel chock to transport my motorcycle in the bed of my Toyota Tacoma. I tell you I was a bit skeptical once I place my order since there were no reviews but once I received it I put it to the ultimate test and let me tell you this product is awesome! I first used it in the garage then on my truck, I would load the bike on the wheel chock the I got on the bike with the kick stand up and rocked the bike side by side and the wheel chock was doing what it was designed to do keeping the bike centered and stable. I didn't bolt it down to my truck so I just loaded my bike and transported it to Pocono race track which is a 5 hour drive and my bike never moved once. You can put your bike on this wheel chock and not worry about it tipping over, your bike will stay centered and all you have to do is strap it down. This product is super strong I have dropped it a couple of times, the welds are strong. This wheel chock is sturdy and tough and if you want a great wheel chock that does what it's meant to do withought spending $250+ on a expensive Condor or any other product then this one is for you.
P.S It comes with a bolt down hardware if you feel like bolting it down on a trailer or truck.
Next up, like another review, my stand came poorly constructed (aligned) and does not lie flat. When I read that review, I was thinking that a little off would be no big deal. Well, mine is over 1/4" off on one corner, probably closer to 3/8". Imagine a dining room table that had a 3/8" gap on one of the feet and you get the picture. That is way too much to be useful as a mobile stand. Whatever company in China that makes these either doesn't have the right equipment to make them properly aligned, or just doesn't care to do it at this price point. As a result, when using the stand on a floor, it's prone to slide across the surface because not all 4 feet are touching. For fun, I wrapped a corner in a bunch of tape to remove the imbalance, but it still didn't work all that well. One of the rubber feet came off after a few test uses and then kept coming off after that. I could probably fix it with some epoxy. Also, the feet aren't a great design. They are entirely round and smooth, and their rubber is too hard and it makes the stand prone to slipping.
Once I had the bike on the stand, it held it well, and removal was easy as other chocks I've used like a Condor. Tolerances for the pins for the rotating braces inside the frame aren't very close, so they tend to wobble a bit more than a more expensive stand, but I could see adding some washers would make the pins a little less loose and the bike would move around less.
For the most part, this is a get-what-you-paid-for type situation. If you were going to mount this in a truck or trailer, or any location where the rear of the stand is up against a solid surface so it can't slide (or bolted down), I think this stand might work pretty decently for your application, especially with some easy tweaks. I can see how someone who uses it that way might give it four stars since it's so cheap. But I didn't buy it for that use, and it's clearly meant to be used as a garage or track stand. It even says "Ideal for garage or trailer" in the description, so I have to base my review or my rating on that. I did decide to go for a cheap stand instead of something like a Baxley or Steadystand, so that's on me.
Pros:
- Cheap
- The black finish on the frame is decent.
- Welds seem solid.
- Decently adjustable for different diameter tires.
- Should work well in a in a bolted down application.
Cons
- Misaligned construction makes it almost useless for garage/track use.
- Feet will slip on a floor and can come off easily.
- Missing part in my shipment.
- No manual or any warranty documentation.
- So-so packaging
